Too bad I sold my golf clubs last year. Vowed not to play again until I could afford time and money to play at least once a week. Who knew I would be staying with friends at The Peninsula where there is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course? I did play it a few years ago, quite well as I recall. Oh well, into the gym I go.
It’s another beautiful day here at The Peninsula, but I have to go to the office. How do people that live here in paradise all the time ever get any work done? They must wait for a rainy day.
The picture here goes back to a special evening we shared with our friends Bill & Diana Young last month. It was a lovely dinner on the terrace by the pool. They called it an “Informal Formal” and everyone had a great time. The chef, RJ, outdid himself. Bill and I know RJ from another great restaurant in the Bethany area – DiFebo’s. Gloria, a member of the Grill staff, we also know – she used to work for a friend of ours in the real estate world. Now she gets to spend her days outside at the beautiful poolside Grill at The Peninsula. This is not just an elegant community, it’s also a very friendly place to live and visit.

This morning’s walk took me the entire length of the main boulevard, from the Lakeside Village to the Front Gate and back again – a 3 mile walk. I caught the end of the bright red sunrise, the early morning sun on the ponds and faces of some of the beautiful homes here, the lush landscaping, the gulls standing guard on rooftops and the fairways waiting for the first golfers of the day. Enjoy, Day 8 of my life of luxury at The Peninsula on Indian River Bay!

This morning, I looked at the beautiful outdoor pool, the wave pool, the indoor pool and the hot tub – the I marched into the gym to get a great hour workout. Did I say it’s a great gym with very friendly staff? I ran into one of the custom builders who builds beautiful homes here as well as in some other great communities like Chestnut Crossing in Milton. Mark Grahne, President of Atlantic Homes is one of this areas’ top builders. After the last few years, you know a custom builder is good if they are still in business and still building quality homes. Mark is and he does!
Now I’m off to work, not the pool – at least not today.
The only view I saw at The Peninsula today was the one going and coming back – the Gate! It was a busy real estate day for me with a settlement this morning and showings this afternoon. Going through the gate this morning reminded me of something unique about The Peninsula – it is truly a Gated Community. So often people ask me to show them homes in gated communities and I have to tell them we don’t have many. In fact, I can’t think of another one that is an attended, gated entrance right this minute.
To gain entrance to The Peninsula, you either need to be a resident or a guest that has been pre-registered with security. In these photos, you’ll also notice the beautiful landscaping that is spread throughout the entire community. It is a beautiful place to live.

Well, the muggies have returned so I began the day in the Fitness Center. This is no ordinary gym and the equipment is better than any I have used elsewhere. I forgot to note the brand, but I’ll take a look on my next visit.
So, I began on the Elliptical Machine, watching CNBC as always, and then proceeded to do the circuit. I was sorely tempted to take the rest of the day off and relax by the pool, but I am not yet retired! So, off to work on Day 5 at The Peninsula. It’s awfully hard to stay motivated to work when staying in this beautiful resort.

The Peninsula is surrounded by wetlands and nature trails. To begin the day I walked the nature trails down toward the Fishing Pier. What a way to begin the week by taking in the sights along the Indian River Bay. The address is Millsboro, but the location is paradise!
As I was driving away this morning, I took a photo of the condo buildings – Windswept – where we are staying for this 2 week transition. The Peninsula on Indian River Bay is on a beautiful piece of waterfront land with a view all the way to the Indian River Bridge and to the Atlantic Ocean. Our friends have owned this condo for several years and they spend most weekends here. This weekend we have the condo all to ourselves, while they are busy at their home in Reston, VA.
It was early when I left to go finish emptying our home and doing a thorough cleaning; we settle tomorrow if the mortgage company comes through. That’s another story for another day.
The Sales Center here at The Peninsula sits just outside the gated entrance. While I’m here I plan to add The Peninsula to my neighborhood section on our web site ActiveAdultsDelaware.com. There are some incredible resale homes, townhomes and condos at prices you’ll never see again in this unique community. New custom homes and semi-custom homes are also available from some of the areas top builders.
Stay tuned for photos of the wave pool, the Grill, the Fitness Center and Indoor Pool, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and of course, the views.
This the 1st day of our stay with friends at The Peninsula on the Indian River Bay. The views are spectacular and it's a perfect cool summer morning for a walk. More photos later with my better camera and I'll document what a spectacular community this is the best way possible - in pictures!
